River Dawn
by David Jordan
River Dawn is set in two timelines, the current and the past 10 years.
A group of sex slave traders make the mistake of kidnapping the daughter of a friend and killing her father. Now, River’s sole mission is to gain her release and the rescue of a group of other children.
John River is a man skilled to a unique level in the martial arts world and the military. He has been trained to rescue people, and that training has become embedded in his personality. He will not stop until he has saved them all.
An extract from River Dawn……’ we had been in the jungle for three days. We had dropped in by chopper just east of Sukhido in eastern Myanmar. It took a day to find the trail, and we followed it for two days. The mission was a rescue. Find the group of Myanmar soldiers that had grabbed a young couple of American teenage girls from a Thai tour in the Salawin National Park on the edge of the border with Thailand. Kidnapped four days ago, it had taken us six hours to transfer over from Indonesia, where we had been doing something entirely different: three hours for the briefing and two hours to kit up. Along with the twelve hours used to raise the alarm high enough in the channels to get this authorized, it was twenty-four hours before we hit landfall. The extra twenty-four hours for us to find their trail could be the difference between discovering them healthy or otherwise.’
A fast-paced thriller set against the backdrop of current world issues, River Dawn will carry the reader on a roller coaster ride of River’s rescue attempt of a group of Chinese children.
Exotic locations, action, military missions, thrills, and crime. River Dawn begins the evolution of John River, the Search and Rescue specialist.

River Deep

River Deep
It’s the second book in the John River series.
River Deep is set in two timelines, the current and the past ten years.
River Deep picks up from the end of the first book – River Dawn.
River takes a job on a cruise liner because of a voice in his head from the past, but he does not realize why this ship is a man short.
Entering the world of narcotics smuggling, River becomes embroiled in destroying an established trade route.
When a Mexican cartel abducts someone to whom River feels a debt, they have no idea of the fury that they have unleashed.
They will pay the total price of entering River’s world.
An extract from River Deep….’It was 2 am at the helicopters, and he had listened to River’s voice on the radio. “Guns, prepare for the exit; you will know when to go.” Guns had frowned and thought for a moment, then turned and gestured to his men, “Team, we are leaving; Comms, Eagle to me now,” he ordered. Comms came running from the Tiger helicopter, and Eagle started clambering down from his Cougar perch. “Pick up the stretchers, let’s get ready to move,” order Guns. The men each grabbed a handle on a stretcher, and as a group lifted, all three stretchers rose into the air, with a man in each corner. The men shuffled a bit to ensure their gun hands were free, and then they stood and waited. Suddenly the night was broken by two large explosions and then screaming and rapid gunfire, it was all coming from the far point designated as the Reaper target. “Let’s go,” ordered Guns, and the twelve men began to move. They eased up into a jog and headed back out to the gap. It took less than a minute to cross the open area leaving the helicopters behind, they were through the gap in seconds and heading back towards the FOB. More explosions rocked the sky behind them, with continuous screaming, shouting, and lots of gunfire. “My god, it sounds like the devil is attacking those men,” said Sergeant Destino to Guns. Guns was leading the way, and Destino was on his left carrying the same stretcher, “it is a devil, Sergeant; those jihadists do not know what they are dealing with,” said Guns in a low voice.‘

River Pacifico

River Pacifico
Hold on tight as the action and thrills accelerate. It’s the third book in the River series, continuing from the end of River Deep.
A call for help takes River to Costa Rica, where an injured ex-Force Recon Captain is being threatened.
An extract from River Pacifico….”Closing the rear hatch, River returned to the driver’s seat and released the handbrake and gearbox. He coasted down the hill for about fifty yards and started the vehicle. Keeping just the sidelights on, he drove slowly down the hill to the Shambala Productions compound, where he drove straight through the locked gates, smashing them to the sides of the entrance.
River pulled the Toyota up by the burnt-out remains of one of the buildings, stopped, and jumped out. Opening the rear hatch, he pulled the body out and dragged the man to the driver’s door, where he placed the body in the driver’s seat.
He pulled two gasoline cans out of the back of the vehicle and emptied the contents all over the four men and the interior. He returned the empty cans to the vehicle’s rear and took one of the road flares.
Closing all of the doors, River stood back and pulled the tab on the road flare, it burst in flame in his hands. He took one last look around and tossed the flare under the vehicle. Turning, he left the broken gates and started back up the hill.
River could see the light from the flames for the first hundred yards, and then the remaining gasoline cans in the rear of Toyota exploded, and the fire shot up above the trees. He carried on up the hill, and he could see the fire all of the way back up. He tossed the FN automatic into the jungle about halfway back to Hotel Pacifico.
Whoever these people were, their intentions had crossed a line with River that night. They were walking dead now; they just did not know it.“
Tropical destinations, action, military missions, thrills, and crime. River Pacifico continues the evolution of John River, the Search and Rescue specialist.
