….. IF YOU LIKE FAST-PACED ACTION …5 out of 5 stars
“Outstanding. Thoroughly enjoyable. River Dawn is well-conceived and well-executed, with nearly non-stop action and excellent plot lines. The primary story of the main character, John River’s repeatedly heroic, usually violent, and frequently thrilling attempts to rescue kidnapped children in Thailand provides the basis for flashbacks into his past as a member of an elite Navy SEAL team. While I am generally not a fan of multiple timelines or flashbacks in novels or films, the author has made this technique work exceedingly well in River Dawn. Not only does the time shifting crucially help the reader understand the background of the lead character and how he can accomplish his heroics, but those individual vignettes are thrilling short stories in and of themselves.
Other than a masterful job in storytelling and progressing the plot, the author’s strength lies in his ability to paint a very clear picture of each of the scenes in the novel to the extent that the reader almost feels as if they are in the room, car, boat, or helicopter with the characters – like actually being in a movie or video game. But beware. Without giving away too much, if you think you have an idea where the story and individual characters are going, you may want to think again — or at least prepare to be surprised.
I understand from the book’s website that it is the first in a series of novels based on the main character. If so, great start. Movie, anyone?”

“I read your book in two days. Not the sort of genre I would normally read, however, I couldn’t put it down. Absolutely loved it. I think I may now have to purchase a set of ceramic knives. Looking forward to the next one.”

“If your taste in reading includes romance or tales of woodland creatures, this book is probably not for you. Everyone else should get a copy, hold on tight, and brace for action.”

5 out of 5 stars, I am a fan. I will not comment much on the action and fights. Of course, they are top-notch and aplenty. However, I will comment on how Mr.Jordan made this book a masterpiece.
I love the main character. Such compassion is tempered by deadly skills (not the typical other way around). The supporting characters and acts of kindness are deeply touching. Red Shirt, captain, the Beetle, and Mr. Hager….. all touched the reader in great ways.

Jordan writes with an icy precision that makes you see everything going on in this action-packed book as though you are in the middle of it all. The pace of action is quick, and the element of surprise is never lost. A masterful thriller.

I love military suspense, and this one did not disappoint. The details of the many places River went were captivating! If you like a hero who is guided by his own ideals, wreaks havoc on those who harm innocents, etc., this book is for you!

It’s the second book in the series and a second fab book. Continuing the story of John River, it’s packed with adventure and jeopardy. Great writing with fantastic detail that supports visualization—once read, you feel you have been to these places and desire to go and see them again! I hope book 3 comes soon…… and an accompanying TV series!!!

While the protagonist is a supremely lethal operative, and the action scenes are terrific. River has a moral compass and a level of commitment to protecting those who need help, which elevates him from the way too usual cardboard action figures depicted in this genre. The pacing was superb, just enough detail without slowing down the story, character development was excellent, the descriptions of the various locales enthralling and there was even some humor. It’s hard to envision a more compelling thriller.
Delighted that the author is committed to a series. I am starting the second volume now and would happily pay full price.
